July 4th Weekend (2011) in Phoenix and July 5th Storm

We drove to Mesa for the 4th of July weekend.  Our friend Mark, the banjo picker, flew in on Sunday afternoon.  He's going to spend a few days looking for houses to buy for a "winter" location.  Bob and Linda offered him a place to stay with us.  Linda fixed barbequed ribs, baked beans, potato salad, and fruit.  What a meal.  We were "overstuffed."  My brother Mike came over for dinner too and brought his guitar.  Sorry Sherrie couldn't make it.  We played music until Mike had to head for home and we had a great time.

Monday I went with Mark as we toured some town locations and sub-divisions so he could see what houses might be available.  Today (July 5th) we headed back to Tucson and Mark was getting together with some realtors to actually look inside some of the houses and probably some we didn't know about on Monday.  He's been perusing the Internet looking at houses.

We arrived back at the base at noon, got the Caddy unpacked then went to the bank.  Mark was supposed to arrive around 5 or 6 and will be staying on base until Friday.  We could see the clouds building up all afternoon - its monsoon season here.  They had a big blow last night and this afternoon we had wind with gusts up to 75mph on base and rain.  It blew limbs out of the Palo Verde tree right behind our RV.  They hit and moved the picnic table but fortunately missed the camper.  I've attached some photos.  It had been around 100 degrees but is now down in the 80s.  Mark called around 6pm and was still in Maricopa, about 2 hours north of us so hopefully missed the storm.  He'll get here later this evening.
